Programs & Projects

These are just some of the programs and services PTSA sponsors or supports for the Centreville High School community:

  • PTSA After-Grad, an all-night drug- and alcohol-free celebration for seniors, held the night of graduation.
  • PTSA After-Prom, an all-night drug- and alcohol-free party for students, held after the prom.
  • Education grants for teachers and academic departments to support professional development and special projects.
  • Fundraising Projects to support PTSA programs and special projects to benefit the school. Major fundraisers include Mulch Sale, No-Frills Fundraising, and Sally Foster Online (during the holiday season).
  • Hospitality for teacher and staff appreciation programs, such as the Back-to-School Teacher Breakfast, and for student recognition programs, such as Honor Roll receptions.
  • Liaisons with advocacy groups for minority affairs and special education, Liberty Middle School, FCPS advisory committees, and regional and state PTA organizations.
  • Monthly meetings open to all parents, with reports from the principal and discussion of current issues and projects.
  • Odyssey of the Mind, an international creative problem-solving competition for students in K-college.
  • CVHSPTSA.org, a clearinghouse of information and resources for parents, teachers, and students.
  • PTSA Scholarships for graduating seniors.
  • Reflections, a fine arts competition sponsored by the National PTA.
  • Special presentations and forums on issues of interest to parents.
  • Student Directory, available only to PTSA members and FREE with PTSA membership.
  • Student Representative Council,a special program for student members to encourage their active participation in PTSA.
  • Volunteer opportunities to encourage parents’ active involvement in CVHS and PTSA projects and events, and Volunteer Email to let parents know about the range of volunteer options on a regular basis.
  • Wildcat Weekly, the PTSA’s email newsletter delivered directly to your email inbox every week.
  • Wildcat Wire, our print newsletter mailed to every student’s home.

PTSA memberships, contributions, and volunteer hours make all this possible! You can be a part of this effort by joining the PTSA and working with us. We welcome and encourage everyone in the CVHS community to join PTSA and volunteer! You can also support the work of the PTSA through your tax-deductible contribution.
